Mountain Empire Older Citizens, Inc. has an opening in their Children's Services department.
The position is full time with benefits and is a combined position: part-time Child Forensic Interviewer with the Southwest Virginia Children's Advocacy Center and Family Support Worker with Healthy Families for Southwest Virginia.
The Child Forensic Interviewer conducts neutral, fact finding interviews of children at the center regarding allegations of child abuse/neglect and coordinates services with multidisciplinary team members.
The Family Support Worker initiates and maintains regular and long-term contact/support with families in their homes.
Activities are family-centered and strength-based, assisting in strengthening the parent-child
Bachelor's degree required.
Maturity, experience and knowledge of child abuse, victimization, child development, criminal justice, judicial systems and conducting interviews.
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to relate to people with respect for their individuality. Maturity and experience in successfully working with children 0-5 years and their families.
Must have knowledge of normal child growth/development and parent-child relationships. Must possess basic computer skills, an understanding of cultural diversity and be non-judgmental.
Self-motivated and task oriented. Experience in working with community agencies, including making referrals.
Good writing and organizational skills.
